CHAPMAN FAMILY TREE:
I CANNOT EXPLAIN THIS AMAZING TREE, BUT I WILL TRY TO SHOW HOW IT EVOLVED FROM TWO PAGES OF HANDWRITTEN NOTES THAT I HAD CHERISHED SINCE I WAS A TEENAGER.
GENEALOGY PAGE 1 IS OUR ASTONISHING FAMOUS & ROYAL ANCESTORS & COUSINS.
GENEALOGY PAGE 2 IS THE WAY I FOUND MY IMMEDIATE FAMILY STARTING WITH 2 GRANDMOTHER'S NOTES.

NOVEMBER 2010 MY TREE BEGINS:
I started my Family Tree with a list of names copied from two of my Grandmothers' Family Bibles. Each had recorded her Mother, Father, brothers and sisters with birth and death dates for me. From that tiny beginning my Family Tree began.
Next I found my Hunters, and then a line of Murphy Kings.

JESSE EUGENE HUNTER SR., MY GRANDFATHER
Birth 07,31,1889 Cooper's Falls, Ontario Canada
Death 1966 in Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, United States
JESSE E. HUNTER, SR. LEFT CANADA SOMETIME AFTER HIS BIRTHPLACE, COOPER'S FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA, BECAME A GHOST TOWN, WHEN THEIR LUMBER MILL AND OTHR MAJOR BUSINESSES CLOSED AROUND 1909. SOME UNKNOWN TIME AFTERWARDS, HE FOLLOWED WORK (POSSIBLY MINING?) AND EVENTUALLY HE AND HIS YOUNG FAMILY LIVED IN PITCHER, OKLAHOMA, THE TEXAS PANHANDLE, AND SETTLED IN TUCSON, PIMA COUNTY, ARIZONA WHERE HE HAD A FAMILY RUN RANCH. A JACK OF ALL TRADES, HE WAS SKILLED AT FARMING, RAISING LIVESTOCK AND CATTLE, DRILLING WATER WELLS, REPAIRING HIS OWN VEHICLES, AND BUILDING HOUSES. EVEN DURING THE DARKEST DAYS OF THE DEPRESSION THEY HAD FOOD, A HOUSE, AND A RUNNING CAR BECAUSE OF HIS HARD WORKING INDUSTRIOUS NATURE AND THE WAY THE ENTIRE FAMILY PULLED TOGETHER. ALL THE OLDER BOYS FOUND WORK IN CONSTRUCTION, GREW UP FIXING CARS, DRILLING WATER WELLS AND OTHER IN DEMAND SKILLS, WHILE THE GIRLS WERE EXCELLENT COOKS, SEWED SKILLFULLY, AND KEPT THE HOUSE WHILE CARING FOR THE YOUNGER CHILDREN. EVEN WHEN THEIR MOTHER, NANNIE IRENE (MRS. CHARLES STOUT), LEFT AND REMARRIED, VI AND THE OLDER GIRLS CARED FOR THE FAMILY AND TOOK UP THE SLACK. ALL OF THE KIDS THOUGHT OF VI AS "MOM". MY DAD SAID THERE WAS ALWAYS A POT OF BEANS ON THE OLD WOOD-BURNING STOVE FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDED A MEAL. HE ALSO SAID THEY HAD A TRUCK FARM WHERE THEY GREW ALL THEIR OWN VEGETABLES, HAD HENS AND EGGS IN ABUNDANCE AND WERE SELF SUFFICIENT. HE SPOKE WITH A LAUGH, ABOUT HIS PET MULE, NAMED BEANS.

JESSE EUGENE HUNTER JR. DAD WAS 5'8" AND 180 LBS. HE HAD THE MOST BRILLIANT BRIGHT GREEN EYES WITH GOLD ASTERISKS. HIS SKIN WAS A MEDIUM TONE THAT BECAME DEEPLY BRONZED IN THE SUMMER. HIS HAIR WAS NATURALLY WAVY WHEN HE WAS YOUNG. HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS WERE ANYWHERE FROM 5'5" TO 6'0". HIS SON, ROBERT WAS 6'2" TALL.
1940 CENSUS SHOWING DAD'S FIRST WIFE, ERNESTINE
Dad and Mom always told me that Dad's Birthday was June 19, 1918 which is what I told the Coroner when he called. But his family in Arizona told me later that his birth year was 1919, not 1918. Aunt Penny remembered it because of al the 9s in the date.
HOW I FOUND MY HUNTERS:
I followed online postings by my Aunt Penny Hunter Gange Barton to find:
MY HUNTERS OF COOPER'S FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA
ST. GEORGE'S CEMETERY
ST. GEORGE'S ANGLECIAN CEMETERY WHERE MY GREAT GRANDFATHER THOMAS HUNTER, HIS WIFE, PHOEBE JANE STOVER, SON, CLARENCE C. HUNTER & HIS WIFE, ELIZABETH BRUNSON HUNTER ARE ALL BURIED IN COOPER'S FALLS, ONTARIO, CANADA:

THE HUNTERS OF YORK PEEL, ONTARIO, CANADA
BEFORE COOPER'S FALLS, ONTARIO, AUNT PENNY TRACED OUR HUNTERS TO YORK PEEL, ONTARIO, CANADA (RIGHT ON THE NEW YORK BORDER.
MY GRANDMOTHER, NANNIE IRENE (WOMACK) HUNTER, SAID ONE OF OUR GREAT GRANDFATHER'S BROTHERS WAS A DOCTOR WHO LIVED ON THE BORDER OF NEW YORK AND ONTARIO, THE STORY GOES THAT HE DELIVERED MY GRANDFATHER IN HIS OFFICE ON THE NY SIDE OF THE BORDER, BUT HE LIVED IN CANADA. I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY RECORDS TO DOCUMENT HER STORY. THERE WERE NUMEROUS DOCTORS NAMED HUNTER IN ONTARIO ABOUT THAT TIME, BUT NONE I CAN TRACE TO OUR FAMILY.
AUNT PENNY DIDN'T MENTION ANY SPECIFIC RECORDS FOR FAMILY IN YORK, PEEL, ONTARIO, AND I FOUND POSSIBLE SCHOOL RECORDS FOR THEM, BUT NO SURE DATA I'M WILLING TO SAY FOR CERTAIN ARE MY HUNTERS.
I HAVE LOOKED AT THE HUNTERS OF CHINGUACOUSY TWP., PEEL COUNTY., ONTARIO, CANADA. BUT I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE ANY CLEAR CONNECTIONS TO OUR HUNTERS.

TWO BAPTISMS IN GORBALS, LANARKSHIRE, SCOTLAND
WILLIAM HUNTER OF GORBALS, SCOTLAND AND SONS, WILLIAM & JAMES HUNTER; WIFE MARY ANN OR MARION COLLINS;
FOR THEIR DAUGHTER, ANN , NO BAPTISM RECORD COULD BE FOUND. THEY LIVED IN THE NORTH PARISH OF GORBALS, LANARK, SCOTLAND. THIS BIRTH RECORD FOR JAMES HUNTER, BORN 1808, WAS FOUND ON FAMILY SEARCH.ORG (LDS)
THIS IS THE HUNTER FAMILY MY AUNT PENNY'S RESEARCH INDICATED ARE OUR HUNTERS, BUT I DO NOT KNOW HOW SHE IDENTIFIED THEM FROM OTHER HUNTERS? SO, HAVING NO REAL INFORMATION OF MY OWN, I COPIED FROM HER POSTS:

THE HUNTER TRAIL ENDED WITH GLASGLOW, SCOTLAND...
I LOOKED AT THE RECORDS FOR HUNTERS IN GLASGLOW, SCOTLAND; RECORDS IN NORTHERN IRELAND; AND FINALLY THE HUNTERS OF CLACKMANNANSHIRE, SCOTLAND, BUT ALTHOUGH I FOUND SOME SIMALARIIES IN FIRST NAMES AND BIRTHDATES, I JUST COULD NOT VALIDATE ANY REAL RELATIONSHIPS, TO MY WILLIAM HUNTER OF GLASGLOW OR HIS WIFE, MARION COLLINS. I AM HOPING AS MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE UPLOADING THEIR FAMILY TREES THAT A CONNECTION MAY APPEAR IN THE FUTURE.
HERE IS A POSSIBLE HUNTER FAMILY WE MAY RELATE TO, BUT FOR WILLIAM JAMES IT SAYS HE DIED IN SCOTLAND,
COULD WILLIAM JAMES BE THE FATHER OF OUR WILLIAM (FATHER OF JAMES WHO MOVED TO CANADA) AND OUR ANCESTOR?

MY FATHER' S STOVER/STOBERS OF ONTARIO, CANADA
STOVER/ STOBERS MY QUAKER ANCESTORS?
PER A STOVER/ HUNTER COUSIN VIA EMAIL, IT IS POSSIBLE THE STOVERS WERE QUAKERS, EXPELLED FROM THE USA (LIKE THE ACADIAN EXPULTION DURING THE FRENCH AND INDIAN WAR) AND RESETTLED IN ONTARIO, CANADA. BUT, I HAVE SEARCHED QUAKER HISTORY IN NORTHERN US, AND ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO, CANADA WITHOUT RESULT.
ONLINE POSTING ABOUT MY STOVERS/BAILEYS:
http://www.genealogy.com/forum/surnames/topics/stover/2617/
"At the library they have a book there called South of Sodom (spelled wrong)it is filled with information on the STOVER family. Also on Quaker Street just north of Norwich, there is a Quaker cemetery where there are a couple of the family members buried."

THERE ARE MANY DEBATES, BUT ACCORDING TO MY COUSIN AT THE NEWSLETTER, NOONE IS CERTAIN WHO OUR IMMIGRANT ANCESTOR WAS, THOUGH THERE ARE THEORIES, NONE CAN BE PROVEN YET.

ELIZABETH (BETTY) M. (MABEL) MURPHY HUNTER, MY MOTHER
Birth AUGUST 16TH, 1926, TACOMA, PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON
Death March 7TH, 1992, RENO, WASHOE COUNTY, UNITED STATES
Birth AUGUST 16TH, 1926, TACOMA, PIERCE COUNTY, WASHINGTON
Death March 7TH, 1992, RENO, WASHOE COUNTY, UNITED STATES
Mom was 5'9" tall, with a very small (Murphy) bone structure for her height. Even when she was pregnant with my brother, she weighed only 109 pounds. She usually weighed about 119-124 as she got older. Her legs and thighs were very tiny, the upper half of her body a normal proportion. She wore a size 6 skirt or pants with a size 12 top. Her ankles were smaller than most peoples wrists. She had blue grey eyes, pale translucent skin with a pink tone, and sandy blonde hair and lots of freckles. As a child they called her "peanut butter face". Her brothers & sisters heights ranged from 4'9" to 6'4" tall. ORAL-6'4";VERNON-5'2";LOIS-4'11"; WILMA-5'11".
Like her Murphys before her, Mom had a near photographic memory, mild schizophrenia, and IQ over 160. At three years old she was playing complicated classic piano compositions by ear, and later could pick up any musical instrument and in an hour be playing it with astonishing proficiency. Her primary instruments were piano and violin. Her father played the violin for dances and entertaining guests in their home.
Incredible Memory~ We could go out for brunch to a restaurant we'd never been to before, and 2 years later my three year old daughter and my Mom both greeted the waitress by name, remembered her husband and son's names, what her son majored in in college, and everything they'd spoken about at the last time we'd been there. That was the moment my Dad and I realized my little daughter had the special Murphy powers too! My Mom never forgot a Birth date, anniversary or important event. (My brother, Bob, also had a near photographic memory and could look at a book for a few seconds and then hand the book to you and tell you word for word what he'd read. Sadly, he had severe schizophrenia).
She was childlike and ethereal. She loved the Holidays more than anything, and loved to decorate the house to the hilt, have congenial Holiday parties, and cook for days getting everything ready for family and guests. She always knew what colors and the type of item everyone would love to receive best, and she had an intuition for giving that one special gift that would be the most cherished by the person receiving it. She would spend days scouring the stores for that one perfect item. There was one exception to this that became a running family joke. She somehow got the notion that I liked Charlie perfume which I was not very fond of. Every year for years she gave me Charlie for Christmas. I didn't have the courage to tell her because she was trying so desperately to please me.
HOBBIES: An excellent seamstress, Mom could sew like a professional tailor. She even sewed suits for men, and amazing coats that looked like expensive store bought. When we were totally broke, she'd go to my school and make notes of what the other girls were wearing, and then create beautiful dresses dripping with lace. The most amazing thing about her sewing projects and embroidery was that the backside of her work was as neat and perfectly finished as the visible side.
She was also an excellent poet and writer. Her short stories and poems were memorably beautiful, but she didn't save any of them--thinking them trivial and not worth keeping.
And her artwork was excellent. She did one wall-hanging of cranes walking in the water, near a flower covered shoreline. Everyone who visited our house remarked on that painting and how delicate and perfect her brushstrokes were.
Mom was a fabulous cook and loved to collect recipes. Her casseroles were our favorites. Her macaroni and cheese was covered with a thick layer of sharp cheddar cheese and browned and melted to perfection. Other classics like Tuna Casserole, Shepard's Pie, Lasagna, Stuffed Bell Peppers, and Sautéed Italian Sausages with Peppers were some of her specialties.
In the picture above on the right Mom was 67 years old, shortly before she graduated to heaven. Her hand and jaw shook so violently due to a neurological disease that she had to hold her jaw steady for this photo. The doctor said what she had was "like" Parkinson's but was NOT Parkinson's. She would fall down and not be able to get up for hours until my father found her. She would just take a nap where she'd fallen, knowing my Dad would soon find her so she said she never worried. He was her safety net. Dad always took care of her and adored her, he was devastated when she graduated to heaven. We had a small family service for her where we scattered her ashes in the foothills of Mt. Rose near a little stream below the mountain, and played her favorite hymns. "A Closer Walk With Thee" by Pete Fountain; "Old Rugged Cross"; "How Great Thou Art"; and "Shall we gather at the River" were her favorites. Then we said our goodbyes and wished her a happy and peaceful rest.
After she passed, Dad told me she'd had another family before us in Long Beach, California. She was married to a lawyer there and they had three children. But he didn't know their father's name, or the names of the family. He said he wanted to notify them their mother had died, but couldn't. He thought the children were raised by their Grandmother in Flagstaff, Arizona. But that was all he knew.
She and Dad met at a popular bar and restaurant in Long Beach, California, Johnny's Wooden Shoe. She was a waitress and he a bartender there.

DIANA CHAPMAN OWEN, FAMILY GENEALOGIST
Many Thanks to Diana Chapman Owen, Chapman, Hodges, and Lindsey Family Researcher and Genealogist. Every document, photo, timeline or collection of data for my Chapman Family started with her research. Everything I know about my Chapman Family is due to her generosity.
Heartfelt Thanks Always!
HENRY W. HODGE(S) + SALINA P. LINDSEY
Henry W. Hodges of Kasota, Le Sueur, Minnesota (or Nicollet, MN)
This is my Family's Brick Wall Ancestor, if anyone can help it'd be much appreciated:
LOTS OF QUESTIONS:
We would iove to know who his parents and ancestors were.
We have NOTHING at all on his parents or siblings.
Does anyone have photos, stories or histories for Henry, Salina P Lindsey or their children?
Where was he born? Different Family records indicate Vermont, New York & Massachusetts respectively.
Does anyone know his nationality? English, Irish, Scottish, Canadian or German?
Hodge(s) settlers arrived from all of these locations.
What was the actual date and location of his death-we have two versions
One in a hospital in St. Peters, Nicholet County, Minnesota from stomach catarah, 1879.
And the other possibly in Kern County, California in 1879-1880?
Does anyone have a headstone photo?
To date we have no burial location or photo of headstone for him.
Diana Chapman Owen has worked with Bob Hodges of the Hodges Family Genealogy Website, and he has referred her to many of his associates, but no one seems to be able to place our Hodges Family with other branches of the Hodge Family Tree. I also had a correspondence with Kim Hodges who is researching the Western States Hodges Family, but she found nothing relating to our Hodges Family either.

1855 HENRY'S FAMILY & IN-LAWS
1855 New York State Census copy was sent to my Cousin, Diana Chapman Owens by Bob Lindsey, in Lindsey Hollow, Corry, PA, where Salina P. Lindsey HODGES parents Eliakim Hodges and Rachel SCOFIELD Lindsey moved to, from Chautauqua Co., NY,sometime before 1855. This was Diana's confirmation of who Salina's parents were.
------------------------------------------------------------------
1855 New York State Census
Henry (W.) HODGES was not listed with his wife, Salina and two of his daughters.
(one daughter, Lilly Jane was unaccounted for in that census)
He must have been somewhere working, while Salina was living with her parents,Rachael Schofield & Eliakim Lindsey.
*Lillian/Lilly Jane was not listed with them, which is strange as she was born in the middle of the three girls.
It must have been an oversight by the Enumerator or she was somewhere else we have no record of yet during this time?
6 family members were listed in the household of Eliakim Lindsey
Eliakim age 67 born in Massachusetts lived 35 years in Chautauqua Co.
Rachel age 60 born in Connecticut lived 35 years in Chautauqua Co.
Salina (Hodge)age 26 and her children listed as:
Florilla age 2 born in Chautauqua Co.
Susan age 4 Born in Chautauqua Co.
+Elizabeth Schofield age 64 born in Conn (Rachel Scofield's sister)
DEATH CERTIFICATES:
Susan and Lillian's death certificate's listed,their father,
Henry W HODGES as born in "NY".
CONFLICTING BIRTH PLACE FROM OTHER RECORDS:
But the 1870 Kasota, LeSueur Co., MN (which is the only census
record found when he was living) indicates he was born in "MA".
residence: Kasota, Le Sueur, Minnesota, United States Age in 1870: age 41
the 1880 census, newly widowed Salina indicated Henry was born in "VT".
---------------------------------------------------------
1859 LAND PURCHASE
Henry W. HODGES (possibly my Henry W. Hodges?) purchased land from Isham SHARP, in Jamestown, Blue Earth,
MN or Kasota, LeSueur, MN, June 7, 1859. Possibly the paperwork for Henry W. HODGES, one of two original settlers of Jamestown, Blue Earth, MN in 1854-55.
But there was also a Henry W. Hodges who later settled in Texas who was living in Minnesota and Wisconsin around the same time as my ancestor. We do not know if they were related, and it is difficult to separate the records for each. By the difference in ages and physical proximity, they may be father and son? But no research on the other Henry W. has yielded such a relationship. Although the names are very similar, they lived in adjoining states, and the other Henry W. was old enough to be our Henry's father, any records I've found for children showed only daughters with no sons listed.

HOW I FOUND MY MOTHER'S MURPHY'S:
Jack Murphy's Laws on Ancestry confirmed my Murphy lineage to Gerrard County, Kentucky. After extensive research, he traced John to North or South Carolina. We all had no idea of our Charles County, Maryland connection.
Later we found out that John and Mary Polly Yarbrough were married in North or South Carolina (Boundaries were redrawn which complicated research), but John Murphy was actually born in Charles County, MD per LDS:
THE HILL EVANS FEUD OF
GARRARD COUNTY, KY.
Murphys involved in the Hill Evans Feud of Garrard County, Kentucky. My Cousin, Jack Murphy, told me about the Hill Evans Feud & emailed a lot of intriguing information about our Murphys colorful history. My John Murphy had two brothers who were murdered in that feud for murders they took part in during the feud. Family decided one cause was that they were all heavy drinking men and jealousies and bad feelings already existed between the two factions. The alcohol was the tinderbox that set everything off.
I tried to find the gravesites for those Murphys assassinated in the feud, but family told me that they were buried on the family farm, and any markers were long ago plowed under with no gravestones left.
A RUNAWAY WHO TRAVELED WITH
DANIEL BOONE?
Similar Family Legends:
It is interesting to note that my Cousin, Jack said John Murphy allegedly left home to escape his father who would get drunk and beat and mistreat him, and my Mom told me I'd never find my Murphys because her Great Grandfather (John + Mary Yarbrough) had refused to have the name of his father ever be spoken in his household, because of abuse. Per her it was his sincere wish his descendants would never know his father's name.
I can not prove or disprove the family legends regarding John's reason for leaving his home, or whether he ever traveled with Daniel Boone. I just found no facts or records at all regarding these legends. It would be so amazing to know the stories of my ancestors, but the records kept during that period just give no real clue.
Also regrettably, my John Murphy, once in Kentucky, was a slave owner as documented by his will (to maintain his Tobacco Plantation)
.
A LINE OF MURPHY KINGS?:
When I did a search on Family Search.org they showed multiple identical family genealogies for John Murphy (born 1766) + Mary Yarbrough to Daniel Murphy descended from a long line of the Leinster Kings of Ireland.

A CHAPMAN/ SPENCER BREAKTHROUGH & MY 1ST CHAPMAN CONDUIT LINEAGE
AN ASTONISHING BREAKTHROUGH FOR MY CHAPMANS; THE FIRST HINT OF MANY ROYAL CONNECTIONS IN OUR CHAPMAN FAMILY TREE:
& OUR LINK TO LADY DIANA SPENCER:
BACK TO 1066 AD:
One day I typed my Grandparents' names on Google (Mabel C. Chapman and Louis Levi Murphy with their birthdates) and found Riddel's genealogy page with her ancestors listed all the way back to Amaury Raoul D'Albetot, b. 1066 AD. (a common ancestor to the Spencers of England). From there my Tree was never the same again! The rest of my tree was a result of that first amazing discovery.
Who would have guessed that farmers from Minnesota and ranchers from Arizona would be related to so many famous and historic figures? And almost every branch of the Chapman tree traces back to Royalty and Ancestors of The British and French Royals.

JIM RIDDEL'S & RELATIVES GENEALOGY:
http://genealogy.riddel.com/individual.php?pid=I1350&ged=riddel.gedamazing
Here Diana Chapman Owen had left a huge volume of Chapman Family information with Jim Riddel who interviewed her for his Riddel's & Relatives Genealogy Website-Chapman Family, that helped me find my Chapmans. I had not yet met her online, and was unaware she was my Cousin. I copied my lineage from Riddel's website starting with Mabel Chapman to Amaury Raoul D'Albetot b. 1066AD. Jim Riddel's website was the beginning of my astonishing tree. Diana later contacted me through email from a Chapman Family posting site and has given me countless ancestor profiles, photos, and stories. A member of DAR she has been researching Chapman Family history for 25 years. She has been an invaluable resource in my own search for Chapman ancestors, as well as a very Dear Friend and my Dearest Cousin.
